hardware screws for a lg 42″ lcd tv (model LH30)

so i write this ever so boring post in hopes that it gets buried and indexed by google for future LCD tv owners to find if they need help.

i recently bought a LG 42″ LCD tv (model number LH30) and there was 4 screws missing.

when you pull your new tv from the box, you will have to put it onto its stand and secure it with 4 screws..

now if you get a bum deal because the screws are missing (like i did, but its ok because the store gave me $35 off the tv for the troubles) then you will need to get your own screws.

i search in the booklet that came with the tv to find the exact type of screw i would need to get, i looked on the cd that came with the tv and i even looked on the lg website,, no luck . i even tried to google my problem and i still had no luck.

i had to call lg and they told me oner the phone what i needed, i dont have the phone number for you but i do have the screw info they told me..

you will need 4 screws … M4 X 24MM with a NUMBER 2 HEAD ,, if its confusing thats ok,, just tell the guy or girl at the hardware store you need 4 of these screws M4 X 24MM with a NUMBER 2 HEAD

now when i went to home depot with this exact information they did not have it,, but they gave me the closest thing to it and it worked perfect.

i ended up with (pictured below) 4mm – 7 x 25mm ,,

there was 2 in a bag for 0.99 (so i got $35 off a tv for less than a $2 fix)

for those of you who know me, you know that when something stinks i have no problem saying so…

i have to first say that i have 2 macbooks and 2 ipods. i do like apple computers now more than windows machines. i have nothing against africa, nothing against the fight on aids and nothing at all against the fight on aids in africa… !

but i am bitching about how much steve jobs loves africa. does he not love his country the good ole’ usa? didnt the good people of the usa just see that he got the liver he needed? maybe he should of went to live in africa to wait for his precious liver..

the reason i get so shitty about this subject is because i was just looking to get a new ipod when i read this on apple.com

why is steve jobs (the single man that has control of what apple does) have so much love for africa? what about aids in the usa? does steve have any children? do they live in the usa? it would be a big suck job for steve if one of his children ever got aids, dont you agree!

a few other things that i noticed about steve and his love for the country that he does not live in are the names he picked for his operating systems,, if some of you are unfamiliar with his os names,, ill list them..

how to hook up a macbook / macbook pro (unibody) to a hdtv ,,

You have on your unibody macbook or macbook pro a port called the “Mini Display Port”. You need an adaptor to convert this to something more HDTV friendly.

You can get a Mini Display Port to DVI adaptor. Then use DVI to HDMI to go your your TV. Or you can get a Mini Display Port to HDMI adaptor and then just use an HDMI cable to go to your TV.

Whichever method you use, that will only do video. The Mini Display Port does not send out audio.

To do the audio you want to use your headphone jack on the MBP. Then make sure your HDTV has an HDMI port with a pair of RCA ports associated with it (Red/white). Most, but not all HDTVs have this. And many only have 1 HDMI port with that association, the other ports don’t accept external audio. If you have one such port, then buy a Stereo Mini to RCA cable. Stereo Mini into headphone jack and RCA into red/white RCA on the TV.

If your TV does not have an HDMI port with the associated RCA jacks, does it have a VGA port? Like a computer monitor port? Then do Mini Display Port to DVI, and then DVI to VGA. Then VGA cable to connect to TV.

The VGA port might also use the RCA slots for audio. Or it might just use a PC audio type connection (another stereo mini). In that case just get a Stereo Mini (auxiliary cable – think iPod to car stereo) cable.
